The AMC Jakovich Centre is proudly situated within the Australian Marine Complex (AMC).
The AMC is the Southern Hemisphere’s leading integrated marine industrial facility and so allows those in the industry to deliver projects of an international scale.
This facility is a world-class centre. It provides excellence for manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, maintenance and technology development, servicing the marine, defence and resources industries.
The AMC is located 23 kilometres south of Perth, in Henderson. The AMC was developed in 2003 to improve the opportunities created by the clustering of industries. Currently more than 150 businesses are located within the AMC. This facility is made up of four main precincts: maritime, technology support, industry and fabrication.
Since opening in July of 2003 the facility has exceeded all expectations. Within this time they have made over $1.4 billion for the local economy as well as created more than 9,900 jobs by delivering more than 368 projects.
Unsurprisingly the facilities continue to grow. In 2010 a $170 million upgrade was completed to the infrastructure at the Common User Facility. This upgrade includes the construction of a 99m x 53m floating dock and a self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) to transfer vessels and other heavy modules between land and water.
The AMC also provides world-class multi-user facilities such as: the Common User Facility (CUF), the AMC Jakovich Centre, the ACET Training Facility and the Marine Support Facility.
